Dear Students

Our faculty program is designed to match the recent criteria of dentistry graduates in terms of interactive clinical training upon multiple oral and dental disciplines that can upgrade the graduates to be competent Dentists whom are able to meet the criteria of national, regional and international labor market, under the umbrella of ethical and moral disciplines. To achieve this goal, the faculty offers a five-year program in addition to one internship year. The faculty is equipped by up to date facilities that guarantee the excellence of training and education across the program years to reach our goal of delivering to the society: The best Dental graduates in the world.

Biography

Professor. Ehab S. Abd Elhamid is the dean of faculty of oral and dental medicine at Badr University in Cairo Since July 2019.
He graduated from Faculty of Oral & Dental Medicine , Cairo University in 1990. His Masters degree was obtained from Cairo University in 1996 and his PhD Degree was obtained from Ain Shams University in 2000.
He was the head of Quality Assurance Unit at the faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University and the executive director of Quality Assurance & Accreditation Project (QAAP) of the Ministry of Higher Education from 2009 till 2012.
He then was the Vice Dean of Post Graduate and Research Affairs in the same faculty from 2011 till 2017.
Professor Abd Elhamid designed and re-constructed and was the director of the Medical Research Center at Misr International University, Cairo, Egypt from 2017 till 2018.
To date, he has more than 35 publications, 15 of which are published internationally in the field of oral oncology.

B.Sc. in Oral & Dental Medicine: 

Career Potentials of Oral and Dental Medicine Graduates

This bachelor program is aimed for competent graduates eligible for local, regional and international labor market. This degree program combines the strongly interlinked disciplines of dentistry including restorative, prosthetic, surgical and non-surgical ways of management as well as preventive dentistry. Students will be able to carry out demanding management tasks in both nationwide and international labor market.

Faculty Resources

The school owns state of the art administrative sector, lecture halls, student laboratories, research laboratories, and clinics.

There are (3) outpatient clinics to serve patients with a total capacity of (180) dental units offering a dental treatment of (7) dental specialties, along with (10) x-ray rooms.

In addition, (6) simulation laboratories each with (30) dental simulators for pre-clinical training of the students, as well as (3) specialized laboratories for dental laboratory prosthetic fabrication and also a unit for central sterilization serving for all dental clinics.

 

Simulation Labs

There are (6) simulation labs with a capacity of (30) dental simulators serving the laboratory training for students in the pre-clinical stage of the program. All labs are equipped with audio-visual supplies.

Inside each lab, two co-staff beside one staff member is available for direct supervision on each 30 students.

These labs are equipped for laboratory technical training for operative dentistry, endodontics and fixed prosthodontics courses.

 

Students Labs

Fourteen labs are available with maximum capacity of (60) students, in addition to two labs (40 student’s capacity) are serving all faculty students in first three academic levels of the pre-clinical stage of the program. All labs are equipped with audio-visual supplies.

During each lab, three co-staff beside one staff member are available for direct supervision for each 50 students.

These labs are equipped for laboratory training for basic medical and dental courses.

 

Dental Clinics

At BUC we feel obliged to provide our community with the best free dental services they deserve. We have (3) huge, modern and state of the art outpatient clinics divided on (3) floors, serving eight different dental specialties.

We are proud to own the ability to serve up to (180) patients per clinic per day.

In Total: BUC’ Dental Clinics can open its doors to (540) patients per day.

Who do we serve: Students, Staff and the public

Location: BUC University gate 7

Working hours: 9am – 3pm

Description:

  • Each clinic is equipped with (60) Dental units divided into two specialties (30 units for each specialty).
  • Those (30) units are divided into (25) units for clinical training for fourth and fifth year students, as well as (5) dental units for the internship training of each specialty.
  • BUC owns the most resent technology in imaging. There are (2) rooms with periapical radiography available in each clinic.
  • An Infection Control Unit which is responsible for applying the measures and disciplines of infection control for dental units, the medical and para-medical personnel attending the clinics during the day.
  • A central sterilization unit is available and equipped by (10) autoclaves, which are used to sterilize all instruments and tools used at all clinics along the day, with at least 3 sterilization cycles per day.

 

Clinic (1)

Serves two purposes:

  • A diagnostic clinic where diagnosis of all patients attending the clinics take place. Next step, they are distributed to different specialties according to treatment needed.
  • Treatment for patients that require Periodontology, Oral Surgery and Pediatric Dentistry.

 

Clinic (2)

Serves patients that require removable and fixed prosthodontics specialties.

 

Clinic (3)

Serves patients that require operative dentistry and endodontics specialties.

  • Three private VIP clinics are also available, one per each basic clinic. These VIP clinics are serving patients from inside the BUC campus and also those patients seeking for orthodontic treatment and dental implants
