Celebrating another Milestone for the BUC & C.P.R Partnership

Badr University in Cairo (BUC) celebrates another milestone in their partnership with the Council for Professional Recognition based in the United States. On February 7th, 2019, 20 students received certificates for completing 120 hours of instruction as a requirement towards attaining their Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential. The CDA is the most widely recognized credential in early childhood education (ECE) in the world and is a key stepping stone on the path of career advancement in ECE. The participants were honored to be hosted Dr. Ashraf Ghaleb, BUC’s Vice President, who welcomed them and gave a short speech about the University’s vision with this program before handing each participant their certificate.

Egypt is only the fourth international partner of the Council, and with the leadership and guidance of Dr. Hassan El Kalla chairman of BUC board of trustees, Dr. Mostafa Kamal president of BUC, Dr. Ashraf Ghaleb vice president of BUC, Dr. Mohamed Soliman general secretary of BUC and Dr. Muriel Baskerville CDA program director, has already completed the third cycle for providing the CDA training in less than a year. Thus far, 43 teachers and 9 Trainers of Trainers have enrolled in and completed their 120 hours of instruction in this program. This was also the first time BUC has hosted international participants for this program, as five school owners from Ghana were among those receiving their certificates at BUC. This is only the beginning, as BUC paves the way for the CDA credential to be expanded in Africa and the Middle East, providing much needed professional development for our ECE teachers and enabling them to nurture the emotional, physical, intellectual, and social development of young children throughout the region.
